He's a typical college educated person: skeptical, observant, with a slight case of

ennui. It's just in this age of priggish conformity, he greatly benefits from comparison.

This is America, 21st century- Hamlet, irony, and Brian's dictum of "working it out for

yourselves" are no longer fashionable. The educated have lost their mission as critics,

and the lower classes have lost their free-thinking individualism. No, in this proud-to-

useful society, any true believer of the "think for yourself" ethos just plain seems like a

genius.

Eric himself doesn't want to be regarded as a genius. He said that only people like Mozart and Shakespeare should be called so.

I don't agree with him, but I can't quite think of him as a genius, because he did so much gross crap that, unfortunately, the
word became inaccurate. To me he's, very precisely, the most important one of all the people I knew of through the
entertainment media.

Well, maybe he is not a genius in all respects. (There are many ways of defining genius and we have not not clearly specified what
we mean by genius.) But, even Einstein failed algebra. (Hey Raven, you see that? Einstein FAILED algebra!) Heehee . . . Though I
rather suspect it was because he was a bit bored and perhaps too busy watching light rays bounce off the desks and
hypothesising about the velocity of said rays than because he could not grasp the mathematical concepts in algebra.)

So, perhaps Eric was deep in thought about the creation of dull and ugly things or the brighter side of life when he did some of the
"gross crap" of which Mrs. Idle speaks?

Or perhaps geniuses are human too and do not always display their optimal potential in every act?

Very interesting, VERY good points, Barbara ! You point out that I mix up "genius" and "god", which I do in fact. I think of Eric as a
"small god" and I deduce he's not a genius, that's just not fair !

However, to fail algebra and to compromise oneself in several third rate productions is not the same thing. Eric did not fail, he
acted as a failure. He did, indeed, consciously create things dull and ugly (not ALL of them, though !) for obscure reasons.

And that makes Eric a small god, and still not a genius, for he could have found other ways of feeding his family than "Casper" or
"Suddenly Susan". The latter I find impossible to forgive, you know. It's no wrong algebra. It's horrendous all RIGHT !

Bravo for your argumentation, anyway. I'm still thinking about it, and I might use it in one of Mrs Conclusion's articles.

Well even if he isn't a genius you've got to admit he's pretty smart. Going to Cambridge does say something!! You may call Shakespear a genius but I'd rather read "Hello Sailor" or "The Road To Mars" than soppy shite like "Romeo and Julliette". No offense if you like that crap but comedy is more my kind of thing. Anyway are you really Eric's wife ?? What is he like ?? Or are you just a wannabe???

I hope one day we'll be friends and I wont get endless skit about my letters and e-mails to you. Oh yeah if you can please explain this....... you were born near my home town in Duram.
