ENCYCLOPAEDIA

FOOTLIGHTS CLUB : Venerable ancient Cambridge Comedy club that has seen more comedians than hot lunches (the food is worse than the comedy), according to Dirk.

GREER (Germaine) : A member of the Footlights thanks to Eric's decision to remove any sexist barrier, this famous feminist writer did then, among other things, a noticeable nun striptease number : "She came into the club at the same time as Clive James. She was a very funny lady. After getting out of the nun's habit she'd be down to a bikini and would put flippers on to go swimming."

HARRISON (George) : The Beatles' former lead guitar player was a fan of Monty Python almost from the start, and claims the show helped to get him through some rough times around the breakup of his own band. But it wasn't until 1975 that he actually got to meet Eric in Los Angeles, during the "Holy Grail" West Coast premiere. Thay became friends, and as George was just finishing his 33 1/3 album, he asked his new friend to film a couple of songs, and to do some pepperpot voice on "This song".
Regular collaboration ensues : Eric does a voice and an ad for "Extra Texture" ; George does RWT's Christmas special ; he turns up at the City Center in New York and, dressed as a Mountie, joins Monty Python on stage for "The Lumberjack song". He also appears in "The Rutles" as... an interviewer. And later on, Eric writes the notes for the Travelling Wilbutys' second album.
However, the most crucial contribution ever given by the pair to Art, one might well say the most significant way George won his fair share of Heaven in the post-Beatles days, was to be the decisive helping hand he gave to the making of "Life of Brian".
